I specialize in custom work utilizing exceptional hardwoods. Wide, figured boards, often more difficult to work with, are an essential element in the proper reproduction and adaptation of period designs, as are hand joinery and finishing. Together, these three aspects of woodworking allow me to produce pieces that reflect the regional characteristics and signature styles that make the finest antique furniture so desirable.

I will reproduce or adapt any chair, table or case piece of good design from the 18th or 19th centuries. Shaker designs are often the best choice for more contemporary applications.

The design process usually begins with a discussion of style and function. You may send photographs of pieces similar to what you are interested in or ask that I suggest possibilities that suit your needs and budget. Most important is your input. Your sense of the piece you are commissioning is what will ultimately guide my work.

I work alone, on one commission at a time. This allows me the time necessary to achieve the goals of our collaboration. A three to six month wait is not uncommon. I ask all of my clients to be patient so that I may devote as much time and energy to others as I do to them.

Thank you for taking the time to visit my Gallery. I look forward to hearing from you.
